Community Outreach and Service Projects

As a school, it is our intention to assist the students in their responsibility to make the world a better place. How do we do this? We encourage each one to use and develop their gifts of compassion, faith and kindness to everyone they meet: in their families, in their school, in the community and the world. The students are encouraged to support and be involved with groups such as the following:

  • Family Promise of the Palouse
  • Good Samaritan Village
  • Heifer International
  • International Projects Sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters
  • Operation Christmas Child
  • Palouse Care Network
  • Samaritans Purse
  • St. Vincent De Paul Society
  • Special Olympics

Most students are involved in the community in such activities such as sports, dance and other activities.

Central Aspect to Catholic Education is Service to Others

We encourage students to put their faith into action. How to do this? As the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) says on its website “A central aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of service to others. When students take part in service activities — both local and beyond — they demonstrate the values and faith they gain through their Catholic education and learn how to make the world a better place. When they observe how others serve the community, they gain an appreciation for how they can continue to serve others their entire lives.”

Jesus himself encouraged us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, and perform other works of mercy as an essential part of being his followers. “Whatever we do to the least of our brothers and sisters, we do to him,” he told us.

Service does matter. It’s a life-long habit that we begin in our school years and hopefully carry on throughout our lives
